A proposito della città

Capital city of Germany, Berlin is one of the most thrilling and the most historic place in Germany and in Europe. No other German city has more "visible" history to offer, despite all the scars of WW2 and the division during Cold War times. No other German city has such a rich cultural life. Berlin's architecture is quite varied. It is now possible to see representatives of many different historic periods in a short time within the city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the ultra-modern glass and steel structures at Potsdamer Platz. Because of its tumultuous history, Berlin remains a city with many distinctive neighborhoods. Belin has so many faces. It is attractive, cosmopolitan, multicultural and multiethnic city with very friendly locals and lots to do and see.

The Berlin Wall – Berlin in the Cold War

Giorno 1 - Tour
Berlin was the city that defined the Cold War. With capitalism on one side of the Wall, and communism on the other, the Berliners had to learn how to live in a divided city. This tour will take you through the history the Berlin Wall’s construction, daring escapes to West Berlin, tragic failures, and how the East Germans brought the inhuman communist machine to its knees with peaceful protests in 1989.

On this tour you’ll visit ‘Stalinallee’, a grand boulevard built in the early days of the East as a monument to the Man of Steel, Stalin. Your guide will take you to the fascinating Berlin Wall memorial, where part of the “Death Strip” has been reconstructed to show you what divided Berlin really looked like. You’ll head deep into the East to see the former headquarters of East Germany’s terrifying secret police, the Stasi, history’s most pervasive spying operation, and you’ll see what was perhaps East Germany’s most ambitious architectural project, the enormous TV Tower.

Of course you will also be brought to the place where the East German regime finally collapsed, where thousands of East Germans burst through to West in November 1989, bringing 28 years of separation to an emotional end; Bornholmer Strasse. \n
